Extending free GP care could lead to increased waiting times for appointments



A Donegal GP says the decision to extend free GP care to more children could lead to increased wait times for appointments.

Yesterday’s Budget saw the measure extended to kids aged six and seven.

The Irish Medical Organisation says there’s already ‘unprecedented demand’ and the change could put same-day appointments at risk.

Chairman of the IMO’s GP Committee, Dr. Denis McCauley, says extending free GP care isn’t the solution at this time:
