Doherty accuses the government of destroying Sinn Féin policies in the Budget

Donegal’s two Sinn Féin TDs are calling for clarification on the budget allocation for Mica redress next year

Deputies Pádraig Mac Lochlainn and Pearse Doherty’s call follows confirmation that there is only an additional €20 million allocated to the Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Scheme for next year.

Meanwhile, Deputy Doherty has accused the government of stealing some of his party’s budget policies on childcare — but making ‘a dog’s dinner of them.’

100m euro has been confirmed for a childcare package designed at freezing costs by subsidising the wages of workers.

Deputy Doherty says it’s similar to his party’s policy, but doesn’t go far enough to reduce costs:

Paraphrasing the wartime British prime minister Winston Churchill, he said never had so much been spent to achieve so little.
