GDPR Concerns expressed over planning section of council website.



A Sligo Councillor has raised concerns that the planning section of the County Council website could be used for means other than those for which it was intended.

 

The website planning section holds blueprints of all houses and businesses which applied for planning permission through the local authority.

 

By law, the Council is required to keep these files on record for public inspection for a minimum of seven years.

 

However, plans from up to 20 years ago can currently be accessed by the public on the Council website.

 

Fianna Fail Councillor Donal Gilroy believes that displaying these old plans may raise GDPR concerns and also fears that they could be used to aid criminal activity:
