Belcoo chicken farm fire ‘one of worst incidents to have happened in the area’



A local councillor has described a fire that killed about 16,000 chickens on a farm near Belcoo, Co Fermanagh as ‘one of the worst incidents of its kind’ that he could remember happening in the area.

The fire occurred in a shed on Marble Arch Road, Belcoo on Sunday morning.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service was called just before 7:30am.

The fire was brought under control at about 3:50pm on Sunday afternoon.

Local SDLP Councillor Adam Gannon said his thoughts go out to those affected by the fire.
