Under resourcing of ambulance service needs to be addressed

A Sligo/Leitrim TD says a patient that had to be treated on the floor of an ambulance recently highlights the understaffing and under resourcing of the ambulance service.

Fianna Fail Deputy Marc MacSharry is to raise the issue with Minister of Health, Stephen Donnelly in the Dail.

He says the need for ambulances is going up 7% annually with the current number of personnel unable to deal with all callouts efficiently.

Deputy MacSharry says ambulances are regularily being called from the north west to travel to other parts of the country.
