‘New York legend’ Jimmy Neary passes away aged 91



Jimmy Neary, owner of the famous Neary’s restaurant in New York City has passed away at the age of 91.

The Tubbercurry, Co. Sligo native opened the business located on 358 E 57th Street on St. Patrick’s Day in 1967.

Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy and Michael Bloomberg are just some of the people who dined in the world famous establishment.

Former Mayor of new York, Michael Bloomberg, stated in a Tweet that ‘Neary’s is a New York institution…because Jimmy Neary was a New York legend’ further stating ‘there was no end to his hard work and hospitality.’

His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10am (Eastern Daylight Time) in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York.
