Love Leitrim urging TDs to support Bill in Dail vote on Wednesday

The Love Leitrim campaign group is supporting a Bill that would impose a temporary prohibition on new data centres and large-scale fossil fuel projects like Liquified Natural Gas terminals.

The group is supporting People Before Profit/Solidarity TD Bríd Smith’s Planning & Development Bill which, if successful, would stop fossil fuel infrastructure and data centres being designated as “strategic infrastructure”

It would also seek to update the planning process and ensure that the State’s climate targets are taken into account.

TDs will vote on the Bill in Dáil Éireann on Wednesday

The Bill does not seek to remove existing infrastructure, data centres or stop necessary maintenance.

Love Leitrim Chairperson Jamie Murphy is calling on all local TDs to support the bill
