More Mica Protests to take place today

It’s expected that homeowners impacted by Mica will protest outside the gates of Leinster House today.

The Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien is to make a presentation to the cabinet about the Mica redress scheme, following a meeting in Dublin last night.

The Minister met with representatives of the people affected by the defective building blocks in the North West – and is to present them a draft of the settlement proposals later today.

One option being considered would see affected homeowners receive compensation for repairs of up to around €350,000.

Eileen O’Doherty – who represents Donegal Families – says they will only accept 100% redress.
