A Donegal TD says data centres use enough water to meet the demand of a small town in Ireland.
Independent Thomas Pringle believes due to the large volume of water and electricity needed by the centres, they are one of the leading causes of the government’s concern over blackouts over the coming years.
A recent report by Eirgrid estimates that data centres will account for 25% of the nations electricity usage by 2030.
Deputy Pringle says the government should be prioritising citizens needs.
