Parts of Hazelwood forest closed this week due to biodiversity works

Parts of Hazelwood forest in Co. Sligo near the carpark will be closed this week as Coillte carry out extensive works to clear invasive species.

Over €200,000 is being invested at Hazelwood this year for a range of biodiversity works that have been taking place since the summer.

Operations Manager for the project, Karen Woods says the forest has been choked by rhododendron for years which prevents native plants from growing.

She explains how the works benefit the forest.
