The L2101 in Co. Sligo should be upgraded to a regional road to allow it to avail of proper safety markings.
That’s according to Fine Gael Councillor Dara Mulvey and Independent Councillor Marie Casserly who have submitted a joint motion to the local authority seeking the the possibility of upgrading the stretch.
Councillor Mulvey says there are a series of dangeours bends and sections with no yellow or white lines and that some motorists are meeting large vehicles in the middle of the road.
He says the route is usually very busy with traffic coming from as far back as Cloonacool heading into Sligo Town.
