Church leaders join calls for 100% redress on defective blocks



‘Families are facing homelessness and serious debt’ due to damage caused by mica and pyrite.

That’s according to the Bishop of Elphin, Kevin Doran.

Church leaders in the Catholic and Church of Ireland faiths across the country have joined calls on the government to provide 100% redress for those impacted by the defective blocks.

While the Sligo Pyrite Action Group was set up in recently after latest estimates show around 200 houses are impacted by pyrite damage in Co. Sligo.

Bishop Doran says families are ‘victims of carelessness on the part of others’ and the current redress scheme is too restrictive
