A Sligo Councillor says a cycle route along the shores of Strandhill and Rosses point would offer a safe area for locals and tourists to avail of.
A motion submitted by Independent Marie Casserly calling on the council to draw up plans and seek funding for such a project was passed at the most recent meeting of the local authority.
€294 million in funding has recently been allocated to the National Transport Authority for cycling and walking routes.
Councillor Casserly says that cycle ways are associated with an economic return to the local area and has a knock on effect with other recreational activities.
