President Higgins pays tribute to local radio involvement in Irish Music Month

The president of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, has thrown his support behind Irish Music Month, an initiative that aims to showcase the talent Ireland has to offer in the music scene

It is supported by local radio stations and the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, including Ocean FM, and Hot Press.

OceanFM is hoping to find the region’s ‘New Local Hero’ in a competition that is running on Ocean Drive with Seamie MacManus.

Five finalists will be chosen from all entries, with one chosen to go on to the National Judging, where they are in with a chance to win €5,000 to help fund their career.

Entries can be sent to irishmusic@oceanfm.ie.

President Higgins today paid tributes to the radio stations, and all those involved, in Irish Music Month.
