Fifty-nine patients are waiting for beds in the north west’s two main hospitals today.
31 of them are in Sligo University Hospital, with 19 in the hospital’s emergency department.
There are 28 waiting for a bed inLetterkenny University Hospital, 13 of whom are in the emergency department and 15 in wards and elsewhere.
Overall throughout the country today, there are 421 patients in hospitals waiting for beds; of those 358 are in emergency departments.
