Fianna Fail in self-examination mode at Cavan meeting today

The Fianna Fáil parliamentary party will meet in Cavan today to review last year’s general election result and to plan for the upcoming Dáil term.

Critics of leader Micheál Martin are expected to voice their feelings at the gathering in Ballyconnell.

Among the most vocal has been Sligo/Leitrim Fianna Fail TD Marc MacSharry.

Today’s meeting will include a review of performances in recent general and European elections.

The comes following an analysis of the 2020 vote which found that a majority of members aged under 65 years believed Fianna Fáil does not have a distinct identity.
