Death of former Sligo councillor Paddy Conway, Enniscrone



Tributes are being paid today to the former Sligo councillor Paddy Conway, from Ennicrone, who has passed away.

He was a longtime Fianna Fail councillor, having served from 1967 to 1999.

He was steadfast in his promotion of the west Sligo area and the north west in general, particularly when it came to tourism, rugby and golf.

He served as Cathaoirleach of the council in 1991.

The late Mr Conway’s funeral mass will take place on Friday morning in The Church Of Our Lady Assumed In to Heaven, Enniscrone, followed buy burial in St. Patricks Cemetery, Kilglass.

The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, Cllr Paul Taylor, today paid tribute to the late Cllr Conway and extended sympathy to his wife, Breege, and family.

Cllr Conway, who was in his 91st year, was succeeded on the council by Cllr Joe Queenan, who paid tribute to his political mentor when he spoke to Ocean FM News.
