Rediscovering the Green Fort in Sligo town

There are hopes Sligo’s Green Fort could be become a popular tourist attraction for the region.

The first phase of conservation works have begun on the historical site, located in Rathquarter, which dates back to the 17th century.

The aim of the works is to preserve and protect the fort as a cultural heritage site.

Explaing the situation to OceanFM News is Siobhan Ryan, Sligo County Council Heritage Officer.
