€1.7m allocated for upgrades and provision of laptops for third level students

Just over €1.7m in funding is going to third level institution in Co. Sligo for upgrade works and to supply laptops for students.

€1.5m has been allocated for IT Sligo and a further €209,000 for St. Angela’s.

The money will be used for minor works for reopening such as health and safety and for procuring information and communication technology equipment.

The funds will also cater for the provision of laptops, primarily aimed for first years students, after 8,000 were distributed last year.

Minister of State at the Department of Health and Sligo/Leitrim TD, Frank Feighan says it’s the first time in 19 months that students are returning to campus which can be a nervous and exciting time for many.
