Declan Bonner gets two more years as Donegal manager

Declan Bonner has been re-appointed as Donegal senior football manager for two more years.

The decision was confirmed by Donegal GAA on Monday night in a short statement.

The County Board had invited nominations from the clubs.

When the deadline for submissions of last Sunday at 5pm passed, Donegal GAA says no other candidates had been nominated.

The County Executive has thus recommended Bonner to managed the county side for the 2022 and 2023 seasons – which was accepted by the county board.

Bonner has just completed four years in the senior manager’s role.

During that time, he won two Ulster titles in 2018 and 2019 – but last year’s Ulster final loss to Cavan was a setback – and Donegal were knocked out of this year’s Ulster championship at the semi-final stage by Tyrone.

This is the Na Rossa clubman’s second stint as county manager.

He previously managed Donegal from 1997 to 2000.
