Saolta Hospital Group are dealing with a spike in the number of Covid-19 cases



The Saolta Hospital Group’s Chief Clinical Director, is warning that the Delta variant is causing a spike in cases in Hospitals across the West and North West of the Country.

 

The Saolta Group comprises of 6 hospitals across 7 sites including Sligo university Hospital and Letterkenny University Hospital.

 

Another one of the Hospitals under the control of the group, Galway University Hospital is encouraging people to get vaccinated as it deals with a high number of Covid-19 patients.

 

It’s treating 32 people who have virus, which is a significant increase on recent weeks.

 

1,866 new cases of covid 19 have been confirmed in the Republic with 314 patients in hospital, including 61 in ICU – the highest number since April 3rd.

 

Saolta Chief Clinical Director, Pat Nash says the Delta variant is causing a spike in cases in the West and North West.
