Donegal TD unhappy with delivery of National Broadband Plan

A Donegal TD is calling on the government to speed up the rollout of the National Broadband Plan in the county.

The government recently posted an update of the plan with no mention of when the first connections will be available in Donegal or Leitrim with Sligo expected to have it’s first connections in early 2022.

A revision to the number of premises that would be passed for connection nationally by the end of the year was published in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic limiting progress on the plan.

The goal is to have 60,000 premises passed by the end of December; currently 12,000 are passed and ready for connection around the country.

Donegal Independent TD, Thomas Pringle says the rollout should have begun in Co. Donegal.
