Connacht Ulster University would benefit the entire region

A Cork/North Central TD believes the establishment of a cross border Technological University would benefit the entire region and would not interfere with the proposed Connacht Ulster Alliance where plans are already at an advanced stage.

Fine Gael Deputy, Colm Burke has made the claims.

When he was Lord Mayor of Cork, the city he awarded John Hume the Freedom of The City in 2004 and says if it was to be constructed, the university should be named in honour of him.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Deputy Burke says the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Brandon Lewis has also shown interest in the proposal.
