49 people waiting for a bed in north west hospitals



There has been a drop in the number of patients waiting for a bed in Sligo and Letterkenny University Hospitals but they are still among the worst hit nationally.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisations Trolley Watch show 49 people waiting in total in the two hospitals, down from yesterday’s figure of 76.

There has been a noticeable drop in Letterkenny University Hospital where 20 patients are waiting, down from 45 on Thursday when it was the most impacted nationally.

A further 29 are waiting in Sligo University Hospital making it the second worst today when it comes to those waiting for a bed.

20% of all patients nationally are waiting in the north west with a total of 235 around the country.

The highest number of patients waiting on trolleys or chairs nationally is in University Hospital Limerick with 36.

There are also 14 patients with Covid-19 in Sligo according to the latest HSE figures and 7 in Letterkenny.
