Rents in NW up 15% in a year

Rents in Connacht and Ulster rose by up to 15% during the past year, with the number of homes available to rent down by about 60%.

That’s according to the Daft.ie rental report for the second quarter of this year, which compared average rents to the same time last year.

The average listed rent in Connacht is now €883, that’s 15.1% higher than a year ago..

In Donegal, rents were 14.6% higher in the second quarter this year.

In Sligo, rents were 14.5% higher in the second quarter, with the average rent in the county now €883.

In Leitrim, rents were up 16% higher, with the average listed rent now €695.

The rise in rents is being driven by lack of availability . . . just 102 homes were available in Connacht on August 1st.

And only about half that — 54 — were availble in Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan, with the average rent now being €744 for those three counties.
