As new N4 set to open, it’s also a time to remember those who lost lives, those bereaved

A member of the N4 Action Group that had campaignd for years for the provison of a new road between Cloonamahon and Castlebaldwin says the opening of the €80m dual carriageway later this month will be a ‘bittersweet’ occasion.

PRO of the Action Group Bernard Mulhern says there will undoubtedly be joy and celebration at the opening of the new route, which is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the country.

But he pointed out the importance of also remembering the 31 people who lost their lives as a result of accidents on the old N4 during the past three decades.
