A stormwater upgrade may be on the way for the wastewater treatment plant in Easkey, in west Sligo.
The news comes in reply from Irish Water to a query from Sligo Independent Councillor Marie Casserly about an alleged recent pollution incident on the Easkey River.
In response, Irish Water said that heavy localised rainfall had resulted in a storm discharge to the Easkey River and that the treatment plant is operating as per design.
Cllr Casserly says mention of a stormwater upgrade at the plant was encouraging news.
