Sligo man gets top job with EU military staff



A north Sligo native has been appointed to a top job as a member of the European Union military staff.

Drumcliffe man Brigadier General Seán White is to be director of communications, information systems and cyber defence with the EU Military Staff, based in Brussels.

Brigadier General White is a communications and information services officer with more than 35 years service in the Irish Defence Forces.

He has served in Lebanon, Somalia, Kosovo and Chad.

The former Summerhill College student, who now lives in Kildare, took up his new role on August 1st.

Among his responsibilities will be developing policies for cyber defence to support all EU missions and operations.
