55 patients waiting for a bed in north west hospitals



The north west’s two main hospitals are among the worst hit today when it comes to patients waiting for beds today.

28 patients are waiting in Letterkenny University Hospital, 10 of whom were in the emergency department this morning.

27 are waiting in Sligo University Hospital, with 20 in the emergency department.

Just three hospitals — in Cork, Galway and Limerick — has larger numbers waiting for beds today.

Overall throughout the country today, 314 admitted patients were waiting for beds this morning, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch.

252 patients were waiting in the emergency departments, while 62 were elsewhere in the hospital.
