Co2 detectors to be supplied to all schools

The Department of Education is to supply portable Co2 detectors to all schools in August and September.

20 to 35 monitors are to be given to each school to improve ventilation and help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Education Minister Norma Foley brought a memo to Cabinet recently confirming plans are in place for a full reopening of schools in late August and early September with school management not allowed to set their own rules on vaccinations for staff and students.

Independent Sligo Councillor, Marie Casserly says the monitors are a good first step but is concerned of an increase in transmission of the Delta Variant of Covid-19 in the coming weeks and months.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Councillor Casserly explains how the monitors will help.
