Increased numbers at weddings is good news for hospitality sector

A Donegal hotel manager says the announcement that 100 people can now attend a wedding from August 5th is good news, not only because of the business generated but also because of the various spin-off activities.

Although the decision was made at Cabinet “in principle” yesterday, there remains uncertainty as to how it will work in practice when it comes to a variety of issues, such as the need for or checking of Covid certs.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly will now look at the detail so as to provide clarity around issues such as indoor and outdoor activity, music (if any) and actual receptions numbers, so that there’s clarity before the 5th.

Cllr Michael Naughton, manager of the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny, says couples looking forward to their big day had been facing uncertainty for months.
