Two separate drowning incidents last night



The body of a man in his 70’s was recovered form a lake in Co. Leitrim last night.

The alarm was raised at around 9pm at Spencer Harbour in Drumkeeran when he failed to return to the surface while snorkeling.

His body was recovered from the water a short time later and transferred to Sligo University Hospital where a post-mortem examination is to take place.

Separately, a woman believed to be in her late 20’s died in a drowning incident at a lake in Gowna Co. Cavan.

Gardaí were called to the scene just before 9.30pm.

A post-mortem is to take place at Navan Hospital.
