With high temperature warnings in in place for Leitrim, the local authority is issuing advice for people who may in recreational areas prone to fire.
People are advised not to fight a fire, gather everyone in your group to a safe location upwind of the fire and to call 112 or 999.
You will not be billed for phoning the service and are asked to give clear details and any other useful information such as the size of the fire, wind direction and how close it is to dwellings.
If having a BBQ, make sure it is in good working order, kept away from your home and vegetation, never leave it unattended and keep a bucket of sand or water nearby for emergencies.
