Increased demand for Covid Testing in the North West



Covid testing centres in Sligo and Leitrim are extending their services due to high demand.

 

From this (Tuesday) morning, the Covid Community Testing Centre in Finisklin, in Sligo town, will operate under new clinic times.

 

From 10am to 12pm, it will operate a ‘walk-in’ clinic.

 

From 12pm to 5pm, a referral appointment clinic will be in operation.

 

Times have already been extended at the testing centre in Carrick on Shannon for people in Leitrim, again with a walk-in cliic from 10am to 12pm and a referral appointment clinic from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.

The country’s 14-day incidence rate of Covid-19 cases is now at it’s highest point since the end of February.

 

It now stands at 231 cases per 100,000 people, while the five-day moving average of cases has increased by more than 98 percent in a week.

 

Last night 1,071 new infections were announced by the Department of Health.

 

In hospitals there are 101 patients with the virus, while there’s 20 in ICU according to latest figures.
