Road to Streedagh Beach closed to traffic; beach itself remains open



People are advised that the road to Streedagh Beach is closed about half a kilometre from the amenity.

Sligo County Council are concerned about the volume of road traffic but do say the beach itself is open.

Those driving are asked to park at the nearby green area and then walk to the beach.

With the good weather set to continue into next week, people are being advised to protect their skin as temperatures are set to hit 28 degrees in some parts of the north west today.

9 out 10 skin cancers are caused by over exposure to UV light.

The HSE are suggesting people use factor 30 or 50 as there is high levels of UV rays around.
