People are being advised not to bathe in the waters off Dunmoran Beach in west Sligo because of the presence of e-coli.
Sligo County Council says it’s after bathing water monitoring was carried out this past Monday at County Sligo’s five bathing water beaches.
Elevated levels of E. coli were found in samples taken at Dunmoran.
The county council has erected Bathing Water Advisory Notice at the beach that will remain in place until it is proven there is no risk to bathers.
Further sampling will be done today.
The council says it is hoped the Advisory Notice can be removed before the weekend.
