New indoor dining model has to be given a chance to succeed

A Sligo Restaurateur and former president of the Restaurants Association of Ireland says a mechanism that will lead to the return of indoor dining will have to be given every chance to succeed.

Anthony Gray was reacting to the news that 1.9 million passports will be circulated shortly to those that are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.  These passports will allow them to avail of indoor dining from later this month.

Speaking earlier to Ocean the owner of Hooked and Eala Bhan restaurants in Sligo says that while the implementation of the new system will be challenging for the hospitality sector they will have to grasp the opportunity which could lead to the return of indoor dining as early as July 19th

Already the so-called ‘dining passport system’ is being met with resistance.  Many say it’s discriminating against those that have chosen not to receive the vaccination or have not yet been offered a vaccination.

Anthony Gray says there will be teething but with this being the option available to the sector it must be given a chance.
