Strong Offaly finish seals Christy Ring win over Sligo

Sligo hurlers fell to Offaly in Saturday’s Christy Ring Cup Group B play-off on a final scoreline of 2-39 to 2-17.

The final scoreline is a little misleading as Sligo were very competitive for a good portion of the encounter.

Gerard O’Kelly Lynch hit 2-12 for the hosts as they were level with their opponents after 21 minutes of play.

However, Offaly still managed to eek out a 0-20 to 1-9 interval lead and, once Shane Dooley netted early in the second-half, they enjoyed a comfortable cushion for the remainder of the game.

Sligo are still in the Christy Ring shake-up – they now prepare to face the bottom-placed team in Group A in what will be a play-off for a semi-final place.
