Clarification provided on the sale of outdoor alcohol

It’s hoped legislation around the sale and consumption of alcohol in outdoor seating areas at pubs and restaurants will come into law in the coming weeks.

Legislation allowing people to consume alcohol outdoors has been passed in the Dáil clarifying the situation for people and now goes to the Seanad.

It will allow for the sale and consumption of alcohol in designated seated outdoor areas as Gardaí had warned earlier this month that alcohol licenses were not valid outside premises.

It will remain until the 30th of November unless renewed for another six months.

Sinn Fein Spokesperson on Justice, Martin Kenny says while not perfect, it does clarify things for people.
