Casserly the new cathaoirleach in Sligo/Drumcliffe Municipal District

The Sligo councillor who’s been selected as chairperson of the Sligo/Drumcliffe Municipal District says she will continue to campaign for a new Garda station Sligo town.

It was one of the priorities listed by Independent Councillor Marie Casserly after her selection by councillors representing the Sligo/Drumcliffe Municipal District at their AGM yesterday.

She was proposed for the position by Fine Gael Councillor Tom Fox, and jointly seconded by Fianna Fail and Fine Gael councillors Donal Gilroy and Thomas Walsh.

Councillor Fox was selected Leas Cathaoirleach, or vice-chairman.

Speaking to Ocean FM News afterward, Clr Casserly listed the Garda station and the development of a national Spanish Armada Centre in Grange among a long list of issues she will be pushing for during her year in office.
