Death announced of Ireland’s ‘Mr Showjumping’

The death has been announced of Frank (Fran) McGarry of Carrowmore in Sligo.

He was synonymous with showjumping in this part of the world for so many years.

McGarry built the Sligo Riding Centre in 1972 and it was the first large indoor school of its time.

He was also a founder member of the Showjumping Association of Ireland and a leading ns showjumper owner from 1959 to 1972.

His funeral service takes place on Saturday in Ransboro.
