McConalogue says society’s attitude to fur farming has ‘changed radically’

Agriculture Minister and Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue says society’s attitude toward the farming of animals for their fur and skin has changed radically.

Minister McConalogue was speaking after the cabinet approved a Bill that will make it illegal for any new fur farms to be established.

One of the farms currently operating is in Donegal.

14 EU member states have already banned the farming of mink and other wild animals..

The minister told the North West Today Show why moves are now being made here to ban fur farming.

Minister McConalogue also outlined what happens now and when the law banning fur farming will eventually become into operation.
