Householders in Sligo, Donegal urged to test for radon

Householders throughout the north west are again being urged to test their homes for radon levels.

Radon is a cancer-causing radioactive gas that is linked to 300 lung cancer cases every year in Ireland.

A new survey shows that while awareness of radon gas is high, two out of three people said they were unlikely to test their homes for the gas.

Alison Dowdall, scientific officer with the Environmental Protection Agency, has been telling Ocean FM News why it’s important that people in Donegal and Sligo get their homes tested.
