Croagh Patrick pilgrimage to last the month of July this year

The annual Reek Sunday Pilgrimage on Croagh Patrick, which was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will be going ahead this year in an extended format from Wednesday to Saturday, 1st- 31st July.

The climb, or pilgrimage at Croagh Patrick, usually takes place on one day, known as Reek Sunday, the last Sunday in July, but this would be impossible this year due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.

Administrator of Westport Father Charlie McDonnell said that instead, the Sacraments for pilgrims on the reek will be available this year throughout the month of July.

Father McDonnell says he hopes this will provide all those who wish to come to Ireland’s Holy Mountain as pilgrims to do so safely and in their own time.
