Donegal fishermen to participate in Dublin protest this month

Fishermen from Donegal will join their counterparts from all over the County when they participate in a major protest in Dublin later this month.

On the 23rd June Irish Fishing vessels both inshore and offshore from around the Irish coast will assemble at the entrance to Dublin Port from early morning.

With approval from Dublin Port Authority, they will steam up the River Liffey in convoy through the East Link Toll Bridge to John Rodgerson’s Quay.

A Protest and Unity rally supported by protesters from all sectors of the Irish Fishing Industry and coastal & rural communities will be held at 12noon in Guild Street Park at the Spencer Dock beside The National Convention Centre where the Dail will be sitting.

Sean O’Donoghue from the Irish the Killybegs Fishermen’s organisation says the protest is being staged in response to a number of hammer blows that have been delt recently to the industry
