Government must restore Donegal to Dublin flight service ‘urgently’

A Donegal TD is urging the government to ensure the Donegal to Dublin flight service is restored as soon as possible.

Stobart Air has announced it’s ceasing all flights with immediate effect and is going into liquidation resulting in 12 Aer Lingus regional routes and 480 jobs being impacted by the decision, which the airline blames on a failed takeover and the Covid pandemic.

Impacted passengers are being told to check the Aer Lingus website about refunds and rebookings.

Stobart Air had been due to operate regional services here until the end of next year, when a new operator was then expected to take over.

Sinn Fein Donegal TD Pearse Doherty says an interim operator needs to be found quickly as areas such as Donegal could be left without the service for a long time.
