St Mary’s students ‘mentally scarred’ by events of past week

Parents of children attending the St Mary’s High School in Brollagh in County Fermanagh claim that students of the school have been left ‘mentally scarred’ as a result of furniture and equipment being removed from the school over the past week.

Parent have been venting their anger and disappointment that equipment and furniture have been removed from the school while students are completing their studies before the summer holidays.  It’s also being claimed that principals from other schools visited St Mary’s which is due to close at the end of this term to identify equipment and furniture that will be transported to different schools close by.

It was announced earlier this year that St Mary’s is set to close shortly despite a campaign being staged to prevent its closure.

It’s been confirmed that the equipment and furniture from St Marys have been removed to other schools.

Sinn Fein MLA and former student at St Mary’s Jemma Dolan says the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools are handling the closure of the school in a very insensitive fashion.
