Musicians facing mounting costs while dancing in the dark

A North West-based musician is claiming that musicians are being completely forgotten about when it comes to Covid-19 support payments during the pandemic.

Leitrim musician Ronnie Duignan is a member of the ‘Latenight Radio Band’ and is also a member of the Irish Weddings Band Association.

He says that musicians have been left in the dark through the pandemic and although we are approaching mid-June there is still no clarity being provided by the Government if live music will be allowed at events like weddings in July.

The Leitrim musician and singer says that many bands have repayments on instruments and vehicles, he went on to add that the pandemic has added extra costs for them when it comes to marketing and forging an online presence.
