A former Taoiseach says there cannot be a poll on a United Ireland until people are absolutely clear on what they are voting for.
Bertie Ahern made the comments this morning during a virtual conference hosted by the Sean Mac Diarmada Summer School.
Mr Ahern was speaking on the topic of how the period 1919 – 1921 shaped the next 100 years.
He says more is required in implementing the Good Friday Agreement.
He went on to say a poll would not make sense without clarity on what such a change would mean in practice.
