Call for review of the process assessing primary medical certificate applicants

A Donegal TD is calling for an urgent review of the process for assessing applicants for primary medical certificates, which are required for a Disabled Parking Permit.

Independent TD Thomas Pringle says the certificates are also needed for a tax rebate or fuel rebate for disabled drivers, as well as helping disabled drivers adapt their vehicles.

He says he understands the HSE is considering the matter but he felt a new scheme needs to be put in place without delay.

Deputy Pringle told the Dail says this issue particularly affects rural counties in the north west, such as Donegal.
